The town is one of the most significant centres of folk culture in Moravian Slovakia. All the folklore activities in this region have one-hundred-years old history and the traditions have been passed in their living and authentic form from generation to generation up today – shall it concern wonderful folk costumes, folk songs or customary rites. The most interesting places in Kyjov itself include the picturesque Renaissance little chateauwith its graffiti decoration, where the local history museum resides today with displays covering the prehistory, nature and ethnography of the Kyjov region. What deserves your attention in the central Masaryk´s Square is the charming Renaissance town hall with its tower and the Baroque church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Church, St. Cyril and Method which was a part of the former Capuchin monastery.

The villas built in the constructivism style in the 1920s and 1930s are interesting examples of modern architecture.

The Kyjov region has also its wine-growing tradition that is more than one thousand years old.
