The Olomouc Archdiocesan Museum was established in the year 1998 as part of the Olomouc Museum of Art. It consists of the first museum of its type in the history of the Czech Lands.
The old castle was founded by King Premysl Otakar II in 1277. In the 14th century,autonomous Luxembourgs reigned here.
