One of the most famous pilgrim places in the Czech Republic is closely associated with the Cyril and Method tradition and it was probably the seat of the first Great-Moravian archbishop St. Method.
The late Gothic Church of the Virgin Mary Assumption was built in 1517-1548. For many centuries, it was situated in the place where an early Gothic basilica stood.
St. George's Basilica originated as the second church at Prague Castle. Only the foundations of the building, founded about 920 by Prince Vratislav I have been preserved.
